as we reported earlier, the san jose police are basically assisting the san jose city college campus police. they are conducting a campus widowed. police say officers are going from building to building looking for this reported shooter. the initial call came from one person who did not identify themselves. important thing that policement to say is they have not had any reports of shots fired. they have not had any reports of any victims reported. we've been talking to faculty members. they say that basically they are only going by the initial information they were given by campus police that there is a search going on for a possible gunman. they say the scene is hectic but everyone is staying pretty calm. at this point it's been going on for a little while. they say they haven't had anything really new to report except for just waiting to see what happens. one thing that one of the faculty members pointed out to me was that just a couple of months ago they had an active shooter training session involving local police and law enforcement and the campus police. in terms of faculty and

inside a san jose apartment kill twoz grandparents and their granddaughter. family members say the four-year-old was sleeping in the same bedroom as her grandmother, and her grandfather. they did not escape the fire. sergio quintana is live in san jose what if happened. reporter: we've spent most of the die watching fire repair crews pull out bits and pieces of this damaged apartment complex. this fire has been especially devastating for one family in particular. i talked with one woman who lost her mother, father, and daughter. >> before fire crews arrived, she said she tried to battle the flames by herself. >> i just know my boy's room was on fire. and i ran out and i tried to get the fire extinguisher, and cooperate put it out. >> her brother got out of the apartment, but her parents and her daughter did not. >> she is my daughter. >> young? >> she was four. >> maria and felix live in the apartment just below. they had three of their grandchildren over for the weekend and heard a commotion as the fear start. they went outside to see what was happening upstairs. >> when i went outside

the bay area. let's bring in now nbc bay area's marianne favro who joins us from san jose with a look at the impact. marianne? >> reporter: well, raj, i'm here on holman avenue in san jose where earlier today motorists were forced to drive through several inches of water. you can see that the flooded sign is still up behind me, and the city is not going to take it down any time soon because the storm is not over yet. the storm certainly made a splash in the south bay, flooding this section of coleman avenue in san jose. and rain pummelled the roadways, stranding this motorist on highway 87, pooling water and slick surfaces prompted many to have a cautious commute. >> you can crash in a second. your brakes are not going to work with water. so i think it's pretty crazy driving like this. so i prefer to stay home. >> reporter: parking lots became ponds. here on alpine road at highway 280 near palo alto, a sloping power pole caused high voltage lines to sag, forcing the road to close. throughout the south bay, pg&e says more than 200 customers lost power. the heavy rains and winds transfo

. this is through bay point. you can see traffic flowing nicely here. and up next 280 in san jose traffic is actually looking good in both directions. let's head back to the desk. >>> as we mentioned the bay area drying out a bit from series of powerful storms but the rain and wind is actually still causing big problems this morning. alex savidge joins us from lafayette where the storm created a huge sink hole. alex. >> reporter: it will likely take months before we finally rebuild this roadway that collapsed out here yesterday. crews will begin later on this morning using an excavator so they can dig out debris from this creek and eventually secure this sink hole. that is the ultimate goal in the coming days. heavy rain over the weekend. overflowed this creek that runs underneath mountain view drive. the pictures are impressive. the problem here was the culvert they clogged with debris. under ground utilities were compromised in the collapse. a gas line was capped right away and crews were able to create a sewer bypass to keep waste from going into the creek. for a short time the biggest
